Section 1: How to Subscribe/Unsubscribe

1.1 - Managing your subscription via the web

You can subscribe or unsubscribe from either the HTML or the text-only version from the CougarFan Insider page (http://www.CougarFan.com/Insider).

1.2 - Subscribing through email

To subscribe to the HTML version:
Send mail to <majordomo@lists.xmission.com> with the following
command in the body of your email message:

subscribe byuinsider
 

To subscribe to the text-only version:
Send mail to <majordomo@lists.xmission.com> with the following
command in the body of your email message:

subscribe byuinsider-text
 

1.3 - Unsubscribing through email

If you ever need to remove yourself from this mailing list:

To unsubscribe from the HTML version:

Send mail to <majordomo@lists.xmission.com> with the following
command in the body of your email message:

unsubscribe byuinsider

To unsubscribe from the text-only version:
Send mail to <majordomo@lists.xmission.com> with the following
command in the body of your email message:

unsubscribe byuinsider-text

1.4 - What if I go on vacation?

If you go on vacation and do not want your email to back up,  unsubscribe from the mailing list before you leave.  When you return, you can subscribe again.

1.5 - What if my email address changes?

If your email address changes, you will need to unsubscribe from the list using your old address and subscribe again with the new address.

2.1 - What is HTML email?

HTML email is essentially a web page shown within the email message.  A comparison is show below:

2.2 - Can my email program read HTML email?

Only certain email programs can read HTML email.  Here is a list of programs we are sure can read HTML email:

2.3 - How do I switch between the HTML and the text version?

You must unsubscribe from one list and subscribe to the other.  This can be done easily through the web, or through email.

3.1 - What can I expect to receive each week?

You will receive 1-3 emails per day organized tentatively as follows:

 Pre-Game News Recap Post-Game
Pro Watch - a report of last week's performances by BYU players in the pros.

Sports Calendar- a calendar of the upcoming sporting events for the week with teams, times, locations, and TV broadcasts.

Polls, Rankings - information containing the current week's polls and where BYU teams rank nationally in individual categories.

News Recap - quotes from the most recent articles about BYU sports.

Pre-Game - a preview of the upcoming game including players-to-watch, statistics, TV broadcasts, and implications.

Post-Game - a review of the game including box score, statistics, and quotes.

3.2 - Can I choose which emails to receive?

At the present time, we do not have the ability to allow subscription to only certain emails (i.e. only the Pro Watch).
